What a great group of quilters we had yesterday!
And I have to say what a fabulous location.
When Hurricane Charley rolled through Punta Gorda in 2004, it flattened and devastated a large part of the town.
In talking to quilters who call Punta Gorda home, they refer to everything in regards to Punta Gorda as “BC or AC” –Before Charley or AFTER Charley.
When it came to the rebuilding of churches and civic buildings –sometimes starting over is a good thing. ((That is if there has to be an upside to any hurricane flattening where you live!))
The church where the guild meets weekly, Faith Lutheran in Punta Gorda, added a newer, larger and brightly lit community hall – with quilters in on the planning for more outlets for easy access on workshop days ---what a beautiful place! It helped that the quilters were also members of this church and were able to get into the nitty gritty!
