A little tidbit of information for you this morning. What is "Herringbone"? Herringbone describes a distinctive V-shaped weaving pattern usually found in twill fabric. It is distinguished from a plain chevron by the break at reversal, which makes it resemble a broken zigzag.

I have two cards for you today. Two because when I am done showing you how to achieve the herringbone technique, we are going to use the "Top Note Die" to cut out the shape for the first card and.....

......we are going to use the left-over frame for the 2nd card:

Step 1:

You will need (1) sheet of Whisper White Cardstock measuring 4 1/4" x 5.5" and you will also need the same size using a sheet of Sticky Pages. Remove backing from the Sticky pages and glue the Whisper White Cardstock piece to the Sticky Pages. Use your Bone Folder to smooth the Sticky Page and remove the 2nd backing.

Step 2:

Using scraps of Designer Series Paper, cut strips that are all the same width. In my tutorial and sample cards, I am using DSP that is cut 3/4" in width. You can cut them any width you want as long as they are all the same. Use one piece and press in place diagonally as shown above.

Step 3:

Use more strips of DSP and press them in place perpendicular to the first piece you glued, starting in the center and working towards the end of your cardstock piece.

Step 4:

Form the "V" formation on the same side you are working on as shown until all of the cardstock piece is covered on that half. Trim the DSP pieces so you can use the scraps on the other side.

Step 5:

Turn your cardstock piece 180 degrees so you can work on the opposite end of your cardstock. Again, repeat the "V" formation as shown.

Using your Big Shot Machine and the Top Note Die, cut the shape in the center of your herringbone. The inside piece shown below is the piece I used in creating the first card:

• Tools: Punch Pack, Decorative Label Punch, Big Shot Machine, Top Note Die, Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Folder, Sponge Dauber
• DSP: Scraps (I used scraps from the Everyday Enchantment DSP, Sale-A-Bration 2012)
• Stamps: Four Frames, Friendly Phrases

Card #2:

I used the frame part of the Top Note Die shape and glued it to my card front. All of the flowers are hand-cut!
